Eltek Valere Debuts Highest Efficiency Solar Inverter Product Family for Commercial and Residential Applications

Eltek Valere Makes Solar Power More Cost Effective; New Products Debut at Intersolar Show

MUNICH – June 09, 2010 – Eltek Valere today announced the Theia HE-T product line, which offer the industry’s highest power conversion efficiency to improve the returns from solar power plants in commercial and residential applications. The new products make their debut at Intersolar Europe, the world’s largest solar exhibition that runs from 9-11 June in Munich, Germany.

Eltek Valere has a long history in telecom power systems, and has had success with using solar power for wireless and wired telecom networks. This launch marks Eltek Valere's entry into the rapidly growing market for components for solar power industry.

“Eltek Valere is well positioned to take market share in the very interesting and rapidly growing solar market,” said Rune Finne, Eltek Valere president and CEO. “Our expertise in power electronics, our established logistics chain -- from component to customer delivery -- and our global network of sales and service experts provides great advantages.”

During the Intersolar show, Eltek Valere will officially announce the Theia HE-T family of solar inverters. Solar host inverters convert direct current (DC) energy from solar cells into alternating current (AC) so that power can be fed into the mains. The Theia family consists of string inverters that connect directly to a solar panel can be used in small applications such at a residence, central inverters for utility scale power plants, in addition to related control systems for monitoring and management.

The Theia HE-T family is unique in the solar inverter market with its high efficiency power conversion technology, global regulatory approvals and price competitiveness. High efficiency is crucial to maximizing the return from the solar plants.

Theia HE-T can also be used with all available solar panel technologies in the world," said Ingar Apeland, director of renewable energy products for Eltek Valere.

Market Outlook

The rapidly growing market for solar power systems is already larger than Eltek Valere’s primary market for telecommunications power systems. Eltek Valere also announced it has entered into an agreement to deliver solar inverters to a new 5MW application in Jilin province in China. The park and sunbathing area is built by Scatec and Chinese Sanhe Group, with solar panels from Dateng Renewable Energy Corporation.

“There is still some uncertainty about subsidies and tariffs in countries such as Spain, which is affecting the market negatively in the short term. The high level of interest and investment in other markets, however, appears to overshadow the uncertainties in Europe,” said Finne. “In particular, Asia and North America are growing quickly. We have already won several contracts and our order book is increasing rapidly. We are excited about the response during the launch of our new solos host family during Intersolar show.”
